Healing Territories: Lagos em Forma launches in Lagos on 26 October

The second legacy volume of the Lagos WellTech Summit 2026 is presented to the community that inspired it.

Some places make it easier to live well. You see it in walkable streets, in public spaces people actually use, in sport and movement built into daily routines, and in local institutions that treat health as something a whole territory produces together, not only a service delivered in clinics. This idea of territórios que curam, healing territories, ran through the Lagos WellTech Summit 2026. It is now the backbone of a new book.

Lagos em Forma: Bem-estar, Longevidade e Territórios que Curam (Well-being, Longevity and Healing Territories) is Volume 2 of the Summit's legacy series. It grew out of Paulo Toste's keynote and the panel "Well-being and Longevity as a Driver of Transformation". It turns those conversations into a practical roadmap for municipalities, health, sport and education professionals, businesses and citizens.

The book has seven chapters:

  1. Opening note
  2. Healing territories and the power of place
  3. Lagos in numbers
  4. Mobility, parking and urban well-being
  5. Programmes, partnerships, prevention and citizen participation
  6. Longevity, rights, governance and a sustainable territory
  7. Legacy synthesis and next steps

Lagos is the case study throughout, but the questions apply well beyond the Algarve. How does a municipality move from promoting sport to designing for lifelong health? Which partnerships make prevention part of everyday life? And how do longevity and the right to a healthy environment become matters of local governance?

Two editorial partners

The book is made possible by the editorial support of two organisations:

  • Lagos em Forma, E.M., S.A., the municipal company that runs Lagos's sports facilities and promotes physical activity and well-being across the municipality. It is, quite literally, the territory putting its name to the idea.
  • José Bulha International Law Firm, an international law firm that has supported the publication from the start.

We are grateful to both for helping turn a two-day summit into a lasting contribution.

Join us at the launch

We will present the book publicly in Lagos. The session and the book are both in Portuguese, but everyone interested in place-based health and longevity is welcome.
